Our Mission
The Occupied People’s Forum (OPF) supports movements that resist all forms of exploitation, using unarmed, everyday, and cultural methods of struggle.
OPF helps build resistance and solidarity through direct action, education, civil disobedience, digital activism, mass protests, and other strategic methods of struggle.
Our Story
The Occupied People’s Forum initially came together in 2019, as lead organizers from several different peoples in our network met at various conferences and began to share their related experiences. Recognizing that increased collaboration between peoples living under occupation would be a benefit to all, we formed OPF as a means of building cross-movement solidarity between still-colonized peoples, also working with allies outside of our territories to strengthen global support. The OPF has grown since 2019 to represent leaders from resistance movements facing active occupation and colonization, primarily from the following eight struggles: Palestine, Puerto Rico, Ambazonia, Western Sahara, West Papua, Kashmir, Rojava/Kurdistan, and Tibet. We are aware that many other Peoples are also facing colonial and neo-colonial oppression, and are working to expand our network to include all Occupied Peoples.
In Person Solidary Meetings
The forum organized its first major in-person meeting with representatives from seven occupied territories in Juba, South Sudan, in November 2022. The in-person gathering clarified the need for further in-person engagement, training and collaboration between territories facing colonization and occupation by external empires.
Plenary Session in Tanzania 2024
Another plenary session was held by representatives of the Occupied People’s Forum who attended the African Peace Research and Education Association (AFPREA) conference in 2024 in Tanzania.
